1972 VW Camper

I started this 1972 vw camper in december 2008 in the evenings and weekends. The camper itself was a basket case and probably have been better of scrapped but nothing is really beyond it. If you have the no how and availability of parts for these vw campers is great with plenty of suppliers around.

As you can see I have a lot of work to do on this vw camper. All the way through it,s life this van has had enough work to just keep it on the road and had welding repairs on top of old repairs I have had to cut most of the metalwork away and replace with new.

When i have finished restoring the vw camper it will be almost a brand new shell.

Well i've managed to do a bit more im going down the offside the vw camper at the moment and it's just as bad as the front with repair on top of repair i've completly removed the sills and outer arch skin chopped a big chunk of inner arch away i've got two rear arch repair sections so i'm using one to repair inner arch. I now have rebuilt inner sills and repaired the inner section of the arch tub. The c pillar has had to have the bottom of it cut off and rebuilt.

Well i've made a bit more progress the rear wheel arch lower quarter panel is fitted and the inner arch repaired. Using a rear quarter repair panel for the inner arch was'nt as easy as i had hoped but with a few cuts and bends i got it in and sorted. The camper will be better than new when done.

The sliding door on the camper is sorted now and thats been as much fun as the rest as someone had pop riveted a plate to it then blagged it up with body filler badly and the inner panel had rotted away. So i had to chop off the bottom of the completly and new inner outer outer lower repair panels fitted.
