VW camper2

VW camper 2 is a follow on page and i have made a lot of progress on the old dog. The van has become a custom vw camper job rather than a restoration and we got some extras and alterations going on. First of all the front grill has gone and the badge so all smooth on the front. The front bumper ends are welded on and smoothed off so smooth is the way it's going. The door handles on the sliding doors are going and im looking at doing the front doors aswell just need to figure out how i'll open them. We have some nice looking side bars fitted. So back to the graft all the rear inner arches are done the rear quarters fitted i've put in some mountings for the side bars then fit the belly pans in so the side bars can be fitted and removed at will. So now i can underseal all the underside then can start refitting the axle, cables and linkages. Then the steering box can be cleaned, stripped and rebuilt as it's just decided to start leaking everywhere (dont know why).

Here's some more pictures of the vw camper 2 custom of the floor pans without the side bars fitted then some with them on so you get an idea of what they look like. The bars are going to be modified to fit better then powder coated in black as are the bumpers. We are looking at possibly a gun metal grey for the van colour.

Well progress has been slow this year but there has been some. I have got all the welding finished now and im just tidying up the edges and stripping the paint of back to bare metal. So im starting to get on with bodywork ready for paint. So here's some more pictures.

As you can see it the vw camper 2 is coming along well i've done a bit of the filler work (still plenty to go at but at least it's over good solid steel). The front panel looks nice now without grill and badge pressing. Plenty of paint off now back to good stuff(there must have been about 6 different lots of paint on it). Plated over the door handle pressing on sliding doors so we'll have no handles. This will be a very smooth van.
